The Wilderness Guide School provides the outdoor enthusiast with in-depth, hands-on training in dozens of essential topics necessary for your career as a professional guide. or to simply help you to be a better outdoorsman. You'll learn about care horses & mules, how to properly pack a pack animal, horsemanship and trail riding; horseback pack trips; calling big game, guiding hunters. and wilderness survival, use of maps and compasses, camp cooking techniques, wildlife and outdoor photography, CPR certification, First Aid and much more. Learn from guides who have years of experience guiding with professional Outfitters. You will learn first hand about the business of being a professional guide.

HCO is the largest and fastest growing wilderness based outfitting business in Wyoming. Our wilderness camps are 30 miles by pack train, this is primitive wilderness with restrictions; no vehicles, chainsaws or generators. This is home to Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Deer, Moose, Black Bear, Grizzly bears and Wolves. The last truly wild place in the lower 48 states.

After years of hiring guides and workers from other guide schools, we have found that many are good at one or two skills, but lack the expertise we need. We now offer a wilderness outdoor school that will teach people the skills they need to be a top hand.

We are not looking for students to pay us to work. This is the real thing. You will learn to live and work safely in the wilderness.

The knowledge you gain can be used anywhere in the outfitting industry but we will not offer to place you with other outfitters. We are trying to raise our own guides, wranglers, camp jacks and cooks. If you are good enough to complete this course, have the proper attitude, drive and love for the wilderness, then you will be hired by us.

Courses will be taught by the Outfitter and full time Professional Guides of Hidden Creek Outfitters.

There will be presentations from Wyoming Game and Fish.

A certification in Wilderness First Aid.

Farrier taught shoeing section.

Those who complete the course and are hired will receive a Wyoming State Guide License.

Courses will be taught at ranch and wilderness settings. Students will be on actual pack trips and working in the wilderness.
